We offer a guided self- drive Safari to beautiful Botswana. A combination of a passion for Botswana as one of the last countries that still holds so much untouched beauty, plus fly-fishing, plus the adventure of bundu bashing in 4x4 vehicles is what fueled the start of Mafundi Africa Safari's. Gert de Jager is not only the managing director of Mafundi, he also insists on accompanying each and every group so as not to lose that personal touch that has become unique to Mafundi. Gert spent many years as a professional hunter and game capturer in South Africa and will have you rolling with his campfire stories. In 1992 Gert re-located to Botswana and Lived in Maun for five years. Since returning to South Africa, his mission is to introduce others to this beauty. His trusted partner Frans Dietrichs who was born and bred in Tonteldoos, South Africa, (yes, there really is such a place!!), has spent most of his career working on adventure camps and is a crucial part of our team as, not only can he cook, but he also has mechanical and organizational skills that are paramount to us in the bush, he puts true meaning into the saying "A boer maak n' plan". Translation: "A farmer makes a plan". Me, Brenda van der Vyver, the "office manager," well they just stick me in the office to do all the 'dirty work' while they go out and have all the fun.
